Privacy Policy
Effective June 9, 2026
1. Who we are
TIPT Social ("TIPT", "we", "us") operates the TIPT social application at tipt.social and demo.tipt.social. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use TIPT, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to operate the service.
- Account identity: name, email address, profile photo, and a username. If you sign in via Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft, Apple, or another provider, we receive this information directly from that provider with your consent.
- Profile info you add yourself: city, state, profession, employer ("venue"), bio, payment handles you choose to publish (Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, Zelle).
- Social graph data: who you are connected to on TIPT, who you have invited, and (if you grant the corresponding OAuth permission) the list of your friends on Facebook who also use TIPT. We do not see, store, or display data about your friends who are not TIPT users.
- Activity data: when you sign in, when you were last active, which connections you interact with, tips you initiate, and messages you send.
- Technical data: IP address, browser/device user-agent, and access timestamps used to operate and secure the service.
3. What we do NOT collect
- We do not scrape or harvest data about people who are not TIPT users.
- We do not buy contact-enrichment data from third-party data brokers to populate or augment your network.
- We do not store passwords from other providers; OAuth handles that.
4. How we use your data
- To create and operate your TIPT account.
- To show your connections, your network graph, and messages between you and your connections.
- To verify which social networks you are confirmed on (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft), so we can highlight cross-network mutuals.
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and platform misuse.
- To send service-related email (sign-in notices, security alerts).
5. How we share your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that help us operate TIPT (cloud hosting via Microsoft Azure, transactional email, error monitoring), under contractual confidentiality and processing terms. We will disclose data when required by valid legal process.
6. Data retention
We retain your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except as required by law (for example, financial transaction records).
7. Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your account data at any time via your profile page, or by emailing privacy@tipt.social. If you are in the EU/UK, California, or another jurisdiction with data-protection rights, those rights apply to you and we will honor them within the timelines required by law.
8. Data deletion
To delete your account and personal data, see Account deletion.
9. Children
TIPT is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will remove the account.
10. International transfers
TIPT operates in the United States. If you access TIPT from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. under appropriate safeguards.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice before changes take effect.
